Top Secret Damper

HRD Top Secret Dampers are a 2-way independent compression and rebound adjustable damper engineered to meet the needs of enthusiasts seeking a customized solution whether you live at the track or you're a canyon carver. Each set of our Top Secret Dampers is bespoke to you and your needs and with this comes access to some of our upgrades and customizations not available on our Street Performance Dampers or Podium Ready Dampers.

Spring rates are entirely custom on our Top Secret Dampers with the entire Swift Springs catalogue available to you standard. Swift helper and assist springs are also available as an option. HRD Top Secret Dampers can also select from our valving profiles inspired by our Street Performance Dampers and Podium Ready Dampers, or we can work with you to tailor your set closer to specific requirements.

Leveraging use of our Dual Duty Digressive Damper™ technology, the engineering team at HRD has accomplished our goal of creating the ultimate suspension for cars driven on the street while retaining incredible control over pitch and dive characteristics, allowing you to be track day ready. Our research and development process started with a blank slate, allowing our engineers to be fixated on developing the ultimate performance suspension within a vacuum.

Each set of our dampers features our proprietary stainless steel pillowball bearings (where applicable), designed to increase longevity on cars driven in all weather conditions. HRD also utilizes our own titanium hardware including top hat studs and nuts, damping adjustment knobs, and our pillowball bearing collars. Electrophoretic deposition (EDP coating) is used on all of our shock bodies to further increase the longevity of our dampers in adverse climates.

Our Halo 2-Way Offering

2-way coilovers offer a distinct advantage over 1-way adjustable options by providing separate controls for both compression and rebound damping. Whereas 1-way coilovers only allow the user to adjust a single aspect of damping (often rebound), 2-way coilovers split these settings, allowing far more granular control over how the suspension reacts under various conditions. The ability to adjust compression independently ensures that the suspension can manage upward wheel travel with precision—crucial for maintaining grip and stability over bumps or under heavy cornering loads.

Dial in Your Dampers

This independence in adjustments translates to a higher level of customization that can be tailored to specific track surfaces, tire compounds, or personal driving style. For example, a driver who experiences too much squat under acceleration might dial in more compression damping to stiffen the rear, without unintentionally over-stiffening the rebound. Conversely, if the suspension is rebounding too quickly and causing an unsettled ride, the rebound damping can be softened to improve stability, all without changing how the suspension handles impacts in the compression phase. By separating the adjustments for compression and rebound, you're able to more precisely tailor the specific feedback and behavior you get from your dampers.

Dual Duty Digressive Damper™

Each set of suspension from HRD features a monotube design utilizing our Dual Duty Digressive Damper™ technology. Digressive valving provides higher damping force at low piston speeds. This improves control during low-speed events such as cornering, braking, and acceleration, allowing for better vehicle stability and handling.

At higher piston speeds, the damping force levels off, allowing for softer reactions to bumps, potholes, and other road imperfections. This ensures that the ride remains both comfortable and refined while maintaining excellent tire contact with the road for improved grip.

This technology has allowed HRD to create a suspension system that feels balanced and predictable under all conditions. It provides the stiffness needed for precise handling during performance driving and the refinement required for everyday road conditions.

Monotube Construction

HRD's monotube damper design separates the damping oil and gas chamber with a floating piston. This configuration dissipates heat more effectively, ensuring consistent damping performance during prolonged or intense use, such as extended track days.

Our monotube design accommodates a larger piston, allowing for more precise and consistent damping control across the entire valving curve. This enhances the overall effectiveness of the suspension system, making it more responsive to both low-speed and high-speed events.

Monotube dampers are constructed with a single, larger-diameter tube, which is inherently stronger and more durable than alternatives such as twin-tube designs. This makes them ideal for high-performance applications where durability and reliability is paramount.

Electrophoretic Deposition (EDP) Coating

This advanced coating method involves submerging components in an electrically charged bath containing epoxy or acrylic resins. The electric current evenly deposits the coating onto the component’s surface, even reaching intricate crevices and hard-to-coat areas. Once applied, the coating is baked to create a durable, uniform finish that is highly resistant to corrosion, chipping, and wear. For coilovers, which are often exposed to harsh conditions such as road salts, debris, and moisture, EDP coating provides exceptional longevity and maintains both structural integrity and aesthetics.

Compared to alternative options like powder coating or zinc plating, EDP coating offers superior uniformity and coverage. Powder coating, while durable, can sometimes leave small gaps or uneven finishes in hard-to-reach areas, leading to potential corrosion vulnerabilities. Zinc plating, on the other hand, provides basic corrosion resistance but lacks the robustness and longevity of EDP coating, especially under extreme environmental stress. EDP coating helps ensure that your dampers maintain their appearance and functionality for years without premature wear even in adverse climates.

Swift Springs Standard

Swift Springs are celebrated as the pinnacle of suspension technology, thanks to their unique combination of material science and innovative engineering. The foundation of their superiority lies in their proprietary steel alloy, HS5.TW, which is lighter and more resilient than the silicon chrome steel alloys used by most competing spring manufactures. This also allows Swift to use less coils per inch on their springs, reducing unsprung weight from your suspension.

One of the defining characteristics of Swift Springs is their linear spring rate, which ensures consistent performance throughout the spring's compression range. This feature not only improves tire grip but also reduces unnecessary suspension movement, providing a predictable and stable driving experience. Additionally, Swift Springs exhibit minimal coil binding and harmonic vibration, which are common issues with alternative springs, ensuring long-term durability and comfort.
